Galatrona is Petrolo’s most acclaimed wine, a Merlot cru made exclusively with grapes from the Galatrona-Feriale vineyard planted in various phases during the 1990s with low vigor Bordeaux clones. The unique microclimate allows the concentration of the noble components of the grapes that are fundamental for the great structure, elegance, balance, and persistence that has made Galatrona one of Italy’s most coveted wines.
Deep colour, with toffee, raisins, grilled nuts and lip smacking floral fruit; the palate is rich yet lithe, also focused witha seamless and effortless grace; there is great freshness to the beautiful old material held within.
Fresh oak, vibrant red fruit, pleasant rancio complexity, all working well with the fruit on offer; clean and forward; good value early drinking tawny.
The colour is a little deeper than the Rutherglen, the bouquet is more complex and the palate distinctly richer and more viscous in texture: however, it is the varietal character of tokay still doing the work.
Pfeiffer wines produce premium, handcrafted wines of elegance - crisp whites, full-bodied reds and the internationally extolled Muscats and Topaques - luscious, intense fortified wines which are the heritage of the Australian Wine Industry.
Not the most concentrated example, but beautifully balanced and poised; the old material is held in check by winemaking that maintains precision, and it is not until you taste the wine that its full force is revealed; wonderfully long and complex, this once again shows why these wines are national treasures.
Light gold; still in its primary phase, but the tea leaf, honey and butterscotch expression is obvious. Not so rich that a second glass is out of the question.

One of our favourite Pinot Noir's from a family of wine gurus.
Philippa had big shoes to fill - and boy has she done it - delicious, smooth, elegant with layers of taster pinot.
Superb and a must try.
