Trimbach Riesling Reserve (2019)

Trimbach's Riesling Réserve 2019, bottled in magnum, is a dry-leaning Alsace Riesling built in the house's trademark lean, precise style rather than the riper, fuller approach some neighbouring producers favour.

The nose is fine and restrained - lemon, green apple and a whisper of white flowers over a chalky mineral base. On the palate it's dry, taut and linear, with acidity doing the work rather than fruit weight, running through to a long, clean, saline finish.

This is Riesling built for the table and for time in the cellar, not for immediate fruit-forward drinking.

Pour it with choucroute, grilled fish, or a plate of fresh oysters. It also handles the citrus and chilli end of South-East Asian cooking with real ease.

Drinking well now with a little air, and the structure here means it will happily hold and gain complexity through to the mid-2030s.
