Bremley Vineyard Pinot Blanc (2025)
750mL / Tasmania / Australia
The Bremley Vineyard Pinot Blanc 2025 is a dry, quietly built white from the Coal River Valley in Tasmania, leading with orchard fruit rather than perfume. Restraint is the point here: clarity, line and a soft creamy edge instead of showy aromatics.
Pear and green apple sit at the front of the glass, with white peach, a lift of citrus blossom and a faint herbal note underneath. Whole-bunch pressing and a barrel ferment with no new oak keep the fruit clean and unpainted, while full malolactic fermentation rounds off the edges.
The palate is supple and gently textured, juicy through the middle, with bright acidity running the length of it and a chalky mineral thread on the close. The 2024/25 season in Tasmania ran a touch warmer than average but stayed moderated by the island's maritime climate, and that shows as ripe orchard fruit without any loss of freshness.
Pour it with pan-fried flathead, scallops with brown butter, chicken and leek pie, or a plate of prosciutto and young pecorino. It also handles roast pork and apple better than most whites of this weight.
Drink the Coal River Valley Pinot Blanc from now through to about 2029, with the first two years showing the fruit at its most vivid and later bottles trading some of that for texture.
