Segal Dry White

Kosher (Not Mevushal) / 750mL / Galilee / Israel

Category: Wine
Sub-Category: White Wine

The Segal Dry White from Galilee is a crisp, unoaked white made in Israel's cooler northern hills, and it is kosher but not mevushal. Think bright citrus and orchard fruit rather than richness or weight — a straightforward, refreshing style built for drinking young.

Lemon and green apple lead on the nose, with a touch of white blossom and a faint herbal lift that comes through more clearly once the wine has a few minutes in the glass. The fruit is clean and direct, with nothing sitting over the top of it.

On the palate it stays light to medium bodied, with a dry finish and acidity that tightens things up nicely at the back. Texture is simple and brisk, closing on grapefruit pith and a little saline edge that makes the next sip easy work.

Serve it well chilled with grilled white fish, chicken schnitzel, hummus and warm pita, or a table of salads with lemon and olive oil. It also handles Friday night roast chicken without any fuss, which is where plenty of these bottles end up.

Drink now and over the next two years, while the citrus is fresh and the acid is still doing its job.
