Teperberg Impression Sangiovese (2023)
Kosher & Mevushal / 750mL / Israel
The Teperberg Impression Sangiovese 2023 is a bright, medium-bodied Israeli red made in a kosher and mevushal style, built around sour cherry and savoury herb rather than weight or sweetness. It is an approachable, food-friendly Sangiovese that keeps the variety's tang intact.
Aromas lead with morello cherry and dried cranberry, backed by tomato leaf, oregano and a faint note of orange peel. There is a gentle earthiness underneath that keeps the fruit from reading as simple or confected.
The palate is lively and clean, with red fruit running across a firm line of acidity and fine, slightly grippy tannins that tighten the finish. Texture is light to medium, more about freshness and cut than depth, and the close is dry with a lingering savoury tug of herb and cherry stone.
Serve it with tomato-based pasta, grilled lamb skewers, roast chicken with rosemary, or a mushroom risotto. Because it has been flash-pasteurised as a mevushal wine, it handles the demands of a long table and plenty of pouring without losing its shape, which makes it a practical choice for Shabbat and festival meals. A light chill of fifteen minutes in the fridge suits it in warm weather.
Drink now through to around 2027, while the acidity and red fruit are at their most vivid.
