Laurent Roumier Chambolle-Musigny (2023)
1.5L / Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy / France
Laurent Roumier's Chambolle-Musigny 2023, bottled in magnum, is a village-level Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Nuits' most admired estates, working from a range of parcels across the appellation.
Red cherry, violet and a fine, silty minerality define the nose, with real purity of fruit. The palate is silky and precise, with the fine-grained tannin Chambolle is known for and bright acidity carrying the wine through to an elegant, lifted finish.
2023 gave good ripeness in Burgundy without excess weight, and that balance shows clearly in this bottling's freshness.
Serve with roast chicken, duck, or a mushroom tart. It also handles salmon and other oilier fish better than most reds.
Drinking well from 2027 and with the structure to develop nicely through to the early 2030s.
