Los Azulejos Skelly Añejo Tequila
750mL / Jalisco / Mexico
Los Azulejos Skelly Añejo Tequila is a smooth, amber añejo from Jalisco, Mexico, poured from a hand-painted ceramic skull bottle inspired by the calaveras of Día de los Muertos. Añejo by classification, it has spent a minimum of one year in oak barrels, which softens the agave into something warm and rounded rather than sharp.
The nose leans sweet and toasty — caramel, vanilla and baked agave, with a dusting of cinnamon and dried orange peel behind. On the palate it carries that same richness: butterscotch, roasted agave and a little cooked pear, with gentle wood spice arriving through the middle rather than dominating.
Texture is the strong suit here. The Skelly Añejo is soft and slightly oily across the tongue, with just enough pepper on the back palate to keep it from turning syrupy. The finish is medium in length, drying slowly through vanilla and toasted oak into a clean, faintly herbal agave note.
