Pilsner Urquell Pilsener is the original Czech pilsner, brewed in Pilsen and the beer the entire pilsner style takes its name from - golden, balanced and sitting at a sessionable 4.4% ABV, still the benchmark lager stacks itself against.

Expect a grassy, slightly spicy hop aroma over a clean, bready malt base, with a firm bitterness that lingers longer than most lagers manage and a light, easy body underneath. The carbonation is fine and the finish dry rather than sweet.

Serve it properly cold in a tall glass and drink it young - this is not a beer that improves with age, and freshness is where it really shows. It's an easy, refreshing choice on its own on a warm afternoon.
