Budvar is a Czech pale lager brewed in Czechia - the original Czech Budweiser. It's one of the country's best-known exports and the lager many Czechs consider the benchmark for the style.

Expect a floral, slightly spicy hop character on the nose, backed by a soft honeyed malt sweetness that rounds things out nicely. Bitterness is firm and clean, the body sits right in the middle, and the carbonation is fine and persistent, giving it a dry finish that doesn't linger too long.

Serve it cold in a tall pilsner glass, on its own after a long day. Like any good Czech lager, it's at its best drunk fresh rather than left sitting around for months.
