Westmalle "Tripel" is a Trappist tripel brewed in Belgium, widely considered one of the originals that defined the style. It pours a bright, hazy gold with a thick white head and a fine, steady rise of bubbles.

Ripe pear and apple lead the nose alongside a peppery, clove-like spice. Bitterness is more assertive than you'd expect for the strength, balanced by a biscuity malt sweetness, and the body is medium-full with a fine, persistent carbonation that lifts the whole thing and keeps the finish dry.

The 750mL bottle is made for sharing, poured cool into a tulip or goblet glass. Tripels like this are at their best with a little age, so there's no rush to drink it the day you buy it.
