Delirium Tremens is a Belgian strong golden ale brewed in Belgium, the beer that started the Delirium range and gave it the pink elephant on the label that's now almost as famous as the beer itself.

It's bright and fruity on the nose - pear, banana, a dusting of spice from the yeast - with a dry, effervescent body that hides the 8.5% ABV well. Bitterness is light, carbonation lively, and the finish is clean rather than cloying for a beer this strong.

Pour it into a tulip glass and give it a few minutes to warm slightly, which brings out more of the fruit and spice. While it's built to drink well young, the strength means it won't suffer much if a bottle sits around for a year or two.
