Delirium Nocturnum is a Belgian strong dark ale brewed in Belgium, the dark counterpart to the better-known golden Delirium and a solid step up in weight at 8.5% ABV.

Dark fruit - raisin, dried cherry, a little fig - sits over roasted malt and a warming, almost liqueur-like sweetness. Body is full and the carbonation softer than the paler Delirium beers, with bitterness kept well in the background so the malt and fruit can do the talking.

Serve it just below room temperature in a tulip glass to let the dark fruit open up, and it's happy to sit in the cupboard for a while if you don't get to it straight away.
