Erdinger Dunkel is a Bavarian dark wheat beer, a Dunkelweizen brewed in Germany that pours a deep amber-brown under a thick, creamy head.

It keeps the banana and clove character of a classic wheat beer but layers in roasted, almost chocolatey malt underneath from the darker grain. Bitterness stays low, the body is full and smooth, and carbonation is high enough to keep it from feeling heavy despite the colour, with a finish that leans gently toward caramel and lingers a little longer than a pale wheat beer.

Serve it cold in a tall glass. Like any wheat beer, it's best drunk fresh rather than stored away.
