Benediktiner Weissbeer
500mL / Germany / Cans
Benediktiner Weissbeer is a Bavarian wheat beer brewed in Germany, a hazy, pale gold beer that pours with a thick, rocky white head.
The nose is all ripe banana and clove, classic wheat beer character, backed by a soft, bready malt sweetness that never tips into heaviness. Bitterness is almost an afterthought here, since this is a beer built around aroma and texture rather than hops, and the body is full, silky and heavily carbonated, with that characteristic wheat beer fizz lifting it on the tongue.
Serve it cold in a tall weizen glass if you have one, tipping it just enough to keep that thick white head intact. It's a beer for sipping on its own on a warm afternoon, and it's best enjoyed fresh and young rather than left in the fridge for months, since that banana and clove character fades with time.
